Tonight sees the world premiere of this very special quartet assembled by prolific and revered Canadian composer and trumpeter Kenny Wheeler. British pianist John Taylor and Swedish bassist Palle Danielsson have proved themselves perfect conduits for Wheeler’s intricate music in their longstanding collaborations. Into this mix comes the extraordinary Italian vocalist, Diana Torto, who has worked with Wheeler in a variety of musical settings since 2004 and whose credits (Paolo Fresu, Mike Stern, Steve Coleman, Nguyên Lê, The WDR Big Band) attest to her mighty jazz credentials.

In support, Georgia duets with two acclaimed young British pianists:

James Pearson’s ferocious piano technique and rare sense of musicality have enabled him to work across an impressive range of musical genres from Paul McCartney and Wynton Marsalis to the Philharmonia and the BBC Concert Orchestra. He is also Musical Director at the world famous Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club.
